The Bideford Skateboarders
Working with Bideford Town Council, the Bideford Skateboarders made their home in Bideford Pannier Market during the winter of 2023. The Pannier Market providing a good opportunity for the Collective as an alternative venue with better winter accessibility, especially as before no proper lighting, darker evenings and wet weather conditions, all severely impacted upon the skating scene.
Using the Pannier Market during the winter months enabled the Collective to get together and hold a good 3-4 hour session once a week, without being hindered by the weather – This made a huge difference!
Moving forward and heading towards Winter 2024, and darker evenings, MT:SC successfully applied for, and have been awarded a grant from Sport England. This grant will go toward hire costs of the Pannier Market, helping to provide better access for the local skate community during the winter, investment in more equipment, specific coaching and being able to extend and open the Collective to younger members of the skateboarding community.
